PIC

Parent Involvement Committee

The Soda Creek Elementary PIC, short for Parent Involvement Committee, is a group of parents, caregivers, teachers, and staff who work together to make our school the very best place for our children to learn and grow. PIC helps organize events, fundraise for programs and supplies, and create opportunities for families to get involved in school life. The PIC is all about building connections and providing the extra resources that help students, teachers, and staff go beyond the basics, enhancing both the curriculum and the school experience.

"When parents are involved in their children's education at home, they do better in school. And when parents are involved in school, children go farther in school, and the schools they go to are better."--- Anne Henderson and Nancy Berla in A New Generation of Evidence: The Family Is Critical to Student Achievement

Get Involved - Big or Small, It All Counts

Any and all levels of participation greatly valued and welcome, even if you can’t make the monthly meetings you are encouraged to be involved.

PIC Homeroom Representative

This year, the Parent Involvement Committee (PIC) is asking each homeroom to have a PIC Representative—a parent, caregiver, or grandparent who serves as a link between the classroom and the PIC. The time commitment is light but steady throughout the year (2-4 hours a month). Duties involve sending a few emails and driving support for sign-ups/volunteer needs. The goal is to help strengthen support for the many things PIC does for our school, especially as we’ve seen active parents move on to middle school. This role is not about volunteering in the classroom, it’s simply about building a stronger connection between families and PIC so the work does not fall on just a few parents.

This role is simple but important, the PIC Representative will act as a link between their child’s classroom and the PIC, sharing PIC volunteer opportunities, updates and coordinating support. Again this does not mean volunteering in the classroom or attending all monthly PIC Meetings— just helping PIC stay connected and supported so we can continue all the great things for Soda Creek.

Parents, caregivers, or grandparents, please take a moment to share contact info through the google link PIC Homeroom Contact. Once a PIC Homeroom Representative is in place, this form will allow them to have an email list already compiled. Emails provided will only be used by the PIC Homeroom Representative for PIC related communication.

Interested in being the PIC Homeroom Representative? Please email sceseadogspic@gmail.com (with the homeroom teacher cc'd) so PIC can add you as the designated representative. Many thanks for your support!
