November 17, 2025: Whistler Property Contract Preserves Parkland and Supports Staff Housing

The District is moving into a contract with the City of Steamboat Springs for the 9.2-acre Whistler property at a purchase price of $3.6 million. The sale, which will take approximately two years to finalize, includes $100,000 in earnest money that will go toward the purchase. This agreement is a win-win for both the District and the City—preserving the land as a public park while generating funding that will directly support staff housing initiatives.

During public comment, community members expressed appreciation for the collaborative solution and thanked both the District and the City for how the process was handled. Angela Cosby, Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Steamboat Springs, also thanked the Board for its time and thoughtful approach in moving this forward.
