Kim Lemmer and Jane Toothaker Join the Steamboat Springs School District Board of Education

Steamboat Springs, Colo. - The Steamboat Springs School District is pleased to announce that Jane Toothaker and Kim Lemmer were sworn in today as members of the Steamboat Springs School District Board of Education. Toothaker and Lemmer replace outgoing board members Katy Lee and Chresta Brinkman, whose terms concluded this fall. Both new members will serve four-year terms.

“Jane and Kim each bring a unique blend of expertise, community involvement, and a deep commitment to our students,” said Superintendent Dr. Celine Wicks. “We are grateful for their willingness to serve and excited for the perspective, leadership, and heart they will bring to the Board of Education.”

With more than 45 years of experience in public education, Jane Toothaker offers a career deeply rooted in service to students, teachers, and communities. Her roles have included teacher, principal, Special Education Director, Gifted Education Director, Board of Cooperative Education Services (BOCES) Executive Director, Colorado Department of Education consultant, and adjunct college professor.

“I bring a lifetime of experience, compassion, and commitment to the Steamboat Springs School Board,” Toothaker said. “I have dedicated my life to helping students, educators, and communities thrive through cooperation, collaboration, and putting students first.”

A proud mother of three daughters and grandmother of four, Toothaker understands the challenges and aspirations families bring to their school experience. She has been an active volunteer in Steamboat Springs, supporting youth, families, and community organizations. She emphasizes inclusive leadership, integrity, and listening as guiding principles for her board service.

Kim Lemmer brings more than 25 years of experience in scientific research and project analysis to her new role on the Board of Education. Kim holds a PhD in molecular biology, has worked in both academic and government sectors, and has taught at the high school and college levels, including at Steamboat Mountain School.

Lemmer currently works at Bud Werner Memorial Library and remains active in the community as a board member for the BookTrails literacy adventure camp and as a coach with the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club. 

“As a parent of two district students, I am passionate about ensuring that students have opportunities to explore, innovate, and thrive,” said Lemmer. 

Toothaker and Lemmer’s first Board of Education meeting will be on December 8, when the Board completes its routine selection of officer positions.
