Board of Education Selects Kristin Drury for Next Superintendent

The Steamboat Springs School District Board of Education has selected Kristin Drury as the district’s next superintendent, pending acceptance of a formal offer.

Drury currently serves as Executive Director of Schools in Douglas County School District, where she oversees approximately 16,000 PK–12 students across nineteen schools in the Parker region. In this role, she has led the implementation of systems that support strong student achievement, sustained academic growth, and student social and emotional well-being.

With 34 years of experience in public education, Drury has served in a wide range of roles, including teacher, instructional coach, district professional development coordinator, high school administrator, and elementary principal. As a principal, she led her school to earn the Governor’s Distinguished Growth Award. Her broad experience provides a comprehensive understanding of teaching and learning across all grade levels.

Drury has a demonstrated track record of closing achievement gaps, supporting high staff retention, and implementing effective Professional Learning Communities. She has also expanded accelerated and differentiated learning opportunities for students and strengthened Career and Technical Education pathways. Her leadership approach emphasizes mentoring, shared decision-making, and a strong focus on instructional leadership.

“After a very thorough and stakeholder-driven search process, the Board has selected Kristin Drury to be the next Superintendent of our district,” said Board of Education President Kevin Callahan. “Kristin displayed an alignment of vision, a breadth and depth of experience, a track record of long-standing commitment, and the desire to be an integral and supportive part of our community. I am confident she will be the right leader for our district, and I am excited to welcome her into this role and into our treasured mountain community.”

A Colorado native, Drury has deep roots in both the Front Range and the Western Slope. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, skiing, and being outdoors.

The Board of Education expects to finalize the employment agreement following acceptance of the formal offer.
